Green Balloon Day Explained

Victoria Road Group has been running Green Balloon Day for years. Residents on the road put out a green balloon on the morning of the day, and also any items they wish to give away. Neighbours can recycle their items, pick up wonderful things that others have parted with, and enjoy a cup of tea or cakes, donated by members of the road. On the designated day in 2013, 28 April, we asked Gordon and Peter on the spot to explain the origins and nature of Victoria Road Group’s Green Balloon Day.

Be very interested to know who were the Stalinists who were so community minded!

Well of course Gordon has Stalinist tendencies himself.

No surprise that folks have picked up on the most entertaining exchange in an engaging interview. Hope we can hear more from Gordon & Peter.

  3. Thanks Bill, enjoyed seeing our neighbours as Indie movie stars. Will be of interest to future social historians. Manda

I hope this is beginning of a number of interviews with resident historians of the road.
